Keefun

Keefun is a unique plant protection product developed in Japan and introduced in India for the protection against the Diamond Back Moth (DBM) and various sucking pests such as thrips. Belonging to the pyrazole group, Keefun is a novel chemistry designed to control a wide range of insect pests, including hoppers, aphids, tobacco caterpillars (Spodoptera), bugs, scale insects, psylla, borers, leaf miners, mites, and certain fungal diseases on vegetables, fruits, and field crops. In India, Keefun is approved for use against DBM and sucking pests like thrips, jassids, and aphids. It inhibits egg laying, reduces egg survival, ceases movement, feeding, and fecundity, ultimately leading to the death of the insects.

MODE OF ACTION

• Keefun acts as a METI (Mitochondrial Electron Transfer Inhibitor) compound through both contact and ingestion:
  • Energy Production Inhibition: It inhibits the electron transport chain in the mitochondria of insect cells, leading to the cessation of energy production and, consequently, the death of the target pest.
